What cookies are
Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. They help the site remember preferences, keep essential functions working, and — only if you allow — understand how visitors move through pages.
How we use cookies
Essential cookies support basic operation such as remembering your cookie preference. Optional analytics cookies help us see which pages are read most often so we can improve clarity. Rejecting analytics cookies does not block browsing, forms, or engagement enquiries. Your choice is stored in localStorage under the key brookhub_cookie_consent.
Cookies table
| Name | Purpose | Duration | Provider |
|---|---|---|---|
| brookhub_cookie_consent | Stores Accept or Reject preference for the cookie banner | Until cleared by you (localStorage) | BrookHub (first-party) |
| _bh_essential | Supports basic site reliability checks when enabled by hosting | Session | BrookHub (first-party) |
| _bh_analytics | Aggregated page-view counts when analytics are accepted | Up to 12 months | BrookHub (first-party) |
Managing cookies
Use Accept or Reject on the banner when it appears. You can also clear site data in your browser settings, which removes localStorage preferences and cookies. After clearing, the banner will appear again on your next visit.
Third-party cookies
Embedded fonts may be requested from Google Fonts; that request can expose your IP address to Google under their terms. Images may load from Unsplash’s content delivery network. We do not embed third-party advertising cookies.
Impact of disabling
Disabling essential storage may cause the cookie banner to reappear frequently. Disabling analytics only means we receive less information about which journal notes are useful. Site features — including contact forms — continue to work.
