Daily boards fail when they try to show everything the PMS can export. For a stand-up, keep yesterday’s occupancy, ADR, RevPAR, pace versus same day last year, and open rooms by category. Leave deeper segment work for the weekly commercial meeting.
Agree definitions in writing. Does ADR include breakfast packages? Are complimentary rooms in occupancy? Hotels that skip this step spend months comparing charts that cannot agree.
Visual calm helps. Use one colour for actuals and one for the budget line. Avoid stacked charts that hide which category moved. Paper-clear layouts beat dense grids when the GM has eight minutes before house meeting.
If your team still copies numbers into a shared sheet each morning, treat that as a temporary bridge. The commission goal is a single update path so the night audit feed and the commercial view stay aligned.
